The course has been approved by the State of California for those who perform removal of asbestos roofing materials. This 8-hour course is based upon the requirements of the State of California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. The course is designed for the Roofing Contractor's employees that may disturb asbestos containing roofing material. The student is provided important information about the different types of roofing materials/components that may contain asbestos and the health effects of asbestos exposure. In addition, the student learns specific measures for personal protection, engineering controls and techniques for dealing with asbestos containing roofing materials. Training is accomplished through lectures, use of audiovisual aids, demonstrations and hands-on experience.

Safely handle, cut, remove, and replace asbestos-containing roofing materials. Use proper PPE and decontamination procedures. Set up controlled work zones and apply safe roofing practices.

The target audience includes: Roofing and construction workers handling asbestos-containing materials (ACM) Maintenance and repair personnel on buildings with ACM Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) staff overseeing asbestos projects Contractors and subcontractors in renovation, demolition, or roofing projects
