The Federal Government requires contractors to comply with EM385-1-1 Safety and Health requirements training before any work is performed on military job sites. There is no official approval process from the United States Government for EM385-1-1 training programs; however, contracting employees must complete this health and safety training in accordance with various federal government mandates. The IASHEP EM385-1-1 Health & Safety training course meets and exceeds federal government requirements and is designed for contractors, military, and government employees who must enforce or comply with the EM385-1-1 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers safety and health requirements. While EM-385 regulations align closely with OSHA Construction Safety Orders, experienced safety and health professionals may overlook specific EM-385-1 requirements. For this reason, the Department of Defense and other government agencies require proof of training that covers the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual. Students learn procedures related to Navy Facility Command and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracts, along with safety and health requirements outlined in the USACE manual. Upon completion, students receive an official OSHA 30-Hour Construction card. Topics covered include, but are not limited to, Site-Specific Accident Prevention Plans (APP), introduction to OSHA, Site Safety and Health Officer qualifications and responsibilities, Activity Hazard Analysis development, site personnel training, incident response, job-site auditing, hazard communication, cranes, rigging, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, and more.

This training enables participants to identify the appropriate EM385-1-1 standards applicable to the construction industry, recognize relevant OSHA 29 CFR 1926 construction standards, understand contractor requirements for developing accident and illness prevention plans, and apply the requirements for developing effective Job Safety and Health Analyses (JSHA).
This training is intended for Site Safety and Health Officers (SSHOs), construction managers, project managers and site supervisors, as well as quality control managers who are responsible for ensuring safety compliance and effective health and safety management on construction projects.
