Understand OSHA Subpart P requirements for trenching, shoring, shielding, soil classification, and protective systems. Identify excavation hazards, including cave-ins, falls, water accumulation, hazardous atmospheres, and heavy equipment operations. Apply safe practices for trench design, access/egress, inspections, atmospheric testing, and competent person responsibilities. Implement engineering controls, protective systems, and emergency response procedures to ensure safe excavation operations.
